Chunky Knit Ribbed Cardigan Knitting Pattern - Golden Hour Cardigan

Golden Hour Cardigan is a long, easy-to-wear layer worked from the bottom up with almost no seaming. Super bulky yarn makes it a fast and satisfying knit, while wide bands of garter and stockinette create a simple texture inspired by the warm, shifting light at the end of the day.

Originally designed for Simply Knitting Magazine's Christmas issue in 2024, this is an easy and quick pattern.

CONSTRUCTION:
The cardigan is knitted from the bottom up. Stitches are cast on for both fronts and the back, which are worked seamlessly. The shoulders are joined using a three-needle bind off. Stitches are then picked up for the sleeves, which are worked in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up for the collar, which is worked flat.

SIZES:
This relaxed fit cardigan is available in 7 sizes from 71cm/28 inch chest through to 152cm/60 inch chest. Shoulder to hip is between 64 and 69cm (25-27 inches), it is designed to be worn with approximately 10cm/4 inches of ease around the bust.

SKILLS:
This has been designed as an easy pattern for beginners, so uses basic skills including knitting in the round, simple decreases such as ssk/k2tog and introduces the newer knitter to Three Needle Bind Off.
