Learn Raglan Shaping with a Simple Seamless Crochet Vest

Looking for an easy top-down raglan crochet vest pattern?

The Hits the Spot Vest is designed to help beginners confidently learn raglan shoulder shaping using simple Half Double Crochet stitches (US terms). Worked seamlessly from the neckline down, this modern vest eliminates complicated seaming so you can focus on mastering raglan increases.

Who Is This For?

This crochet vest pattern is perfect for:

  • Beginners ready to try their first raglan garment

  • Makers who want to learn shoulder shaping

  • Crochet fans searching for “top down raglan crochet vest pattern”

  • Anyone looking for a simple, wearable layering piece

If you’ve mastered basic stitches and want to move into garment shaping, this is the perfect next step.

What You’ll Learn

By making this vest, you’ll learn:

  • How to crochet a garment top-down and seamlessly

  • How raglan increases shape the shoulders

  • How to divide sleeves and body correctly

  • How to maintain consistent tension in Half Double Crochet

  • How to customise body length as you go

This pattern allows you to focus purely on shaping — without complex stitch patterns distracting you. The 'Hits The Spot' tee is worked in one piece, starting from the neckline, which means no seams and no weaving in ends - HURRAY!

Sounds scary, but don't worry I've done all the hard work for you, it really is very easy to work in the round with only Half Double Crochet and Chains. Plus, another advantage of this method is that you can try it on as you are working to make sure it fits you well. If you would like a longer or shorter body, then rows can be added or subtracted once the main body is worked.

If you are unsure of the stitches I have video tutorials on YouTube
