Looking for an easy raglan sweater knitting pattern with classic stripes?

The Stockholm Stripes Raglan Sweater is a seamless, top-down sweater worked in the round. Designed for confident beginners, it combines simple raglan shaping with optional clean stripe details to create a timeless, slow fashion favourite.

Top-down construction allows you to try the sweater on as you knit and adjust the length for a personalised fit.

Who Is This For?

This raglan sweater pattern is ideal for:

  • Confident beginners ready to knit their first seamless sweater

  • Knitters comfortable with knit, purl, and basic increases

  • Makers who want to learn raglan construction

  • Hobby knitters building a modern handmade wardrobe

  • Anyone searching for “easy raglan sweater knitting pattern PDF”

If you’ve knitted accessories or simple garments and want to try a structured but relaxed sweater, this pattern is a clear and approachable next step.

What You’ll Learn

By knitting the Stockholm Stripes Sweater, you’ll learn:

  • How to knit a sweater top down in the round

  • How raglan shaping works using simple increases

  • How to change colours cleanly for stripes (optional)

  • How to separate sleeves from the body

  • How to adjust body and sleeve length as you knit

  • How to shape and finish a neat neckline

This pattern builds confidence in seamless sweater construction while introducing simple stripe techniques.

Inspired by slow strolls through leafy parks, the gentle hum of conversation in a cozy café, and the golden light of a day with no plans, this oversized raglan sweater brings timeless style to your wardrobe. Pair it with your comfiest jeans or throw it on over a floaty dress for an effortless layered look.

CONSTRUCTION:
The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down.
The neckline is worked flat for the first few rows to help lower the front neckline. Stitches are cast on at each side of the neckline at the same time as increases are worked at four points to shape the yoke. Stitches are then joined and the sweater is worked in the round with increases at each marker until the yoke is completed then separated to create the body and sleeve sections. Stitches are picked up for the collar once the sweater has been completed.

SIZES:
This relaxed fit sweater is available in 9 sizes from 86cm/34 inch chest through to 169cm/67 inch chest. Shoulder to hip is approximately 60cm (24 inches). It is designed to be worn with approximately 10-20cm/4-8 inches of ease around the bust. Please measure your upper chest and add the intended ease then check the finished chest measurement to choose the most appropriate size.

Chest circumference:
86/96/106/116/126/137/149/159/169 cm
34/38/42/46/50/54/59/63/67 inches

SKILLS:
Basic increases are used for shaping, but as stitches are cast on to shape the neckline at the same time as increases are made to create the raglan shaping I would recommend this for advanced beginners and beyond.

YARN:
Note: you will need 3 times the amount of your main colour yarn than your contrast colour if you are working stripes.
